The historic Hideaway Resort is located on serene Muskie Lake in Harshaw, Wisconsin, 13 miles south/southeast of Minocqua and close to Rhinelander, Tomahawk, and other popular Northwoods destinations. The Hideaway captures the "Old Up North" feeling with its peaceful forest setting adjacent to thousands of acres of the American Legion Northern Highlands State Forest and other public lands.
There are five cozy, kid and pet-friendly cabins available for rental at the Hideaway, situated on 700 feet of lake frontage and shaded by towering heritage white pines. Included with cabin rentals are charcoal grills, fire pits, kayaks, canoes, row boats, paddle boats, paddle boards, and a swimming raft. In addition to the cabins, the Hideaway is home to a historic main lodge containing a beautiful bar and restaurant built in the 1930's. The bar and restaurant are closed permanently, but private viewings may be available to our guests.
If the 'Old Up North' doesn't lure you to the Hideaway, its history surely will! The Hideaway has been the setting for many incredible stories over the years. The bar and lodge were used as a gambling house and brothel beginning in the 1940's.
